Andrew Bird was very caring& professional throughout our telephone call. Whilst suggesting alternative methods of managing my stoma he listened to my view & preferences, never discarding what I said I preferred. I was without doubt that whereas finances within the NHS budget are of paramount importance & mattered to Andrew at the same time the patients needs & what is best for them was equally important. When NAMS first ‘appeared’ for us to obtain our stoma requirements, I have to say I was not at all happy with certain aspects of the service towards myself as a patient. As time has passed, I feel this has changed so much for the better & I now feel that the patients thoughts particularly on the appliances they feel are best for them personally definately matters, whereas this did not come across to me beforehand at all. I have not had a face to face review as yet due to my previous experiences, preferring to see my own hospital stoma nurse, however, following this conversation with Andrew I will without doubt consider this for the future.
Thank you for these kind words. You have managed to capture the essence of the service perfectly here. I am glad to read that you feel your previous concerns have been addressed.
See my general comments which refer to this nurse. The situation was not ideal (a video call, and my webcam didn't give a very clear picture for him to examine) but he did as well as possible under the circumstances.
Modern technology is great but will never be as good as being face to face. Thanks for bearing with me and for taking the time to leave this review.
