Had a laparoscopy and removal of adhesions and endometriosis yesterday. Dr de Silva and his team where incredible. So kind, caring and first the first time in a very long time of suffering with chronic pain I felt listened to. I cannot thank them enough for looking after me! I already feel relief and stitch work is so neat given the situation I then went onto pasteur ward where again I received amazing care although the ward staff where extremely overstretched! Even though some of the patients where in a lot of pain , we had to go home as there weren't enough beds. It's such a shame they where understaffed at one point and were unable to take their breaks which is highly important for workers , they need some time to get their energy levels back up to provide the best care. I also had to wait almost an hour to go to the toilet which I could clearly see was no fault of their own, it was due to staffing levels and shortages. They really did what they could with what they had and explained everything as clearly as possible to me. If only they where able to keep a few emergency beds spare then if you have more work done than anticipated you dont just get chucked out. But I cannot fault the care from surgical team to the ward team so kind and caring. I have every faith that should I have any further endometriosis surgery I will be in the best hands.
