I've previously had very bad experiences with the staff at A&E, especially triage staff. Unfortunately on this occasion I found the triage staff quite rude but after being transferred to the Ambulatory Care Unit I was treated very well and with respect. I have nothing but positive words to say about the staff on that unit, I felt understood, safe and was examined thoroughly. I've been referred for further scans to try and figure out what's going on and I am grateful that the neurologist has done this.

Suggested improvements
It would be beneficial to patients if the triage staff took symptoms seriously and whilst assessing the patient had a nonjudgmental approach. The rude manner in which I was initially treated made me very upset. Previous trips to A&E have been dreadful due to the head triage nurse, she made errors with her judgement of my four year olds health and left him waiting 5 hours in the A&E waiting line rather than transferring him to pediatrics. He had a fever and a pulse rate of 146-152 that was unmonitored while it beeped multiple times to notify her how high it was, she barely spent two minutes assessing him then spent five minutes out of the room before sending us back out to wait. She was extremely rude, quite possibly one of the rudest members of staff I've ever encountered there, she even turned her badge around when I asked what her name was because I wanted to complain. I think this problem with arrogant, rude staff is becoming increasingly worse because it is being taught from above. Bad management equals bad staffing.
