I just wanted to put a review up for the two very kind male nurses that helped me in A&E today (04/06/2004). King story short I was referred by 999 to go to the A&E department for a gash on a very akward part of my hand/finger, and I was also going to make my own way in before hand to get some help with ongoing tonsillitis after my GP told me to go to the hospital. So I was a double casualty, despite being very very very busy (like I couldn’t get a seat kinda busy) I was still felt as though I was seen and heard by both nurses that delt with me, they took the time to answer my questions, and helped me calm my nerves and took an alternative route when I said I was terrified of getting stitches. They had a great level of professionalism whilst also helping me stay as comfortable as possible. I can’t remember their names I’m sure one of them was called Dexter but I can’t remember the name of the other man, but they both did such a brilliant job! And the hospital should hold pride in their staff because I genuinely can’t fault them, even with it being super super busy. Keep it up Pembury team!

This is the second time my GP hs referre me to the surgical assessment unit due to the level of pain I was experiencing. The first time after spending two days there (had to leave and return the next day) I was told I had no umbilical hernia. A year later it was finally operated on elsewhere. This trip I was abruptly asked if I knew I had gallstones and told that eating 3 tiny peices of cheese was what caused the pain so intense that I could barely move. Not the hiatal hernia that is likely now more of an issue due to the pressure returning post my umbilical hernia operation. I was spoken at not to, treated as if I was of no value and wasting their time. They openly discourage people from seeking assistance and make it painful for those that do.

I cannot speak highly enough of the OAU unit and the caring, compassionate and friendly staff who work there. My three visits to the unit were very positive experiences.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the A&E team who attended to me following a fracture to my right wrist, last Saturday 1stNov. From the moment I arrived, the care was efficient, attentive, and delivered with genuine compassion. Every member of staff I encountered worked with skill and professionalism, and I felt very well supported during what was a painful and stressful situation. I would also like to recognise the outstanding care provided by Anna Knight in the Cast Department. She was exceptionally patient and reassuring, and her technical ability was evident ( I remembered her name so clearly because she has a tattoo of a knight from the game of chess). She took great care to ensure the cast was fitted comfortably and explained each step in a calm, clear and confident manner. I am truly grateful to the entire team for the high standard of care I received. Their dedication, kindness, and professionalism were evident throughout, and I left feeling safe, supported, and very well looked after.

Professional, caring, and knowledgeable staff. The only area for improvement would be waiting time.

All of the staff I met, from the nurses at the entrance to A and E in Pembury, to the reception staff, the staff in the X-Ray department and everyone working there who helped were excellent - friendly, polite, helpful, considerate. I particularly want to thank Dexter, the nurse practitioner who was so delightful. He explained everything he was doing, he was considerate and kind and he was immensely helpful with my injury. I cannot thank everyone enough. Coming to an E and E department is a daunting experience. The staff at Pembury made it welcoming.

My mum had a fall and fractured her wrist. The care she received in A&E was exemplary. Faced with the possibility of having wedding rings cut off they patiently tried all over avenues and succeeded. Special thanks to William & Joshua in Minors and also the lovely ladies in triage. Thankyou for creating a positive experience is what was otherwise a horrible afternoon.

Hands on staff have on the whole been great but the consultant was certainly not!
