I had the best of all worlds by being an NHS patient and treated in the Alex. My treatment while in hospital was of the highest quality and I felt that everything was being done to support my recovery. The first person I saw when I arrived in my room before the operation was someone from catering who took my order for food after the operation! From then on, the service levels including catering, nursing, portering, occupational therapy were of a very high standard and this in no small way contributed to the speed of recovery after my hip replacement. (The operation was on a Monday and I was discharged on Thursday). My suggestion is that, if you are considering a hip replacement, then get on with it. The operation will be transformational. If you can have it done at the BMI Alexandra, then you are in good hands.
