Unfortunately despite my surgeon being excellent and faultless...the hospital was not. I was a surgical patient on a medical ward which I suspect led to the poor quality of care that I received. I was left after my operation for hours vomiting and unable to even lift my head off the pillow due to dizziness as I was desperately dehydrated after the op and vomiting. When I complained about how I was feeling to the HCA she was brilliant and went to inform the Sr who was "looking after" me who promptly sent her back to take out my canula and encourage me to go home. I refused this as I was in an unfit state. It was only when I had to get angry and explain that I was a nurse and I wouldn't let a dog suffer the way they had left me. I hadn't even had anything to help me stop feeling sick so I couldn't take painkillers!!!
