I came to the walk-in centre due to a significant increase in pain in my hip which was in line with earlier advice from physio and GP (ie if symptoms worsen). The doctor I saw appeared tired and yawned throughout the very brief < 10 minute consultation. It was clear he hadn’t interpreted my medical history corrected based on the image request which said I had a hip arthroscopy a few months ago - it was 2017. I was told to add co-codamol to the already heavy dose (500mg) of naproxen I’m on along with a paper for an imaging request for an MRI. The consultant asked me to wait in the waiting area so he could go and speak to the MRI team. After I overheard him being told the centre is in another building in the grounds I think he changed his mind and gave me the paper to go instead. Given I was walking with a crutch and had paid to be seen due to pain it felt an odd and insensitive request. I called my husband to pick me up and drive me there. On arrival it was shut. I came home with an MRI request that I can’t do anything with and a prescription to up weight my painkillers.
