HOSPITAL FAILED TO DIAGNOSE BRAIN TUMOUR, CLAIMS I AM “DEPRESSED” I was admitted to St Thomas Hospital London in May 2016 via A and E with neurological symptoms (double vision, sixth nerve palsy, etc). During my 3 day stay, the hospital failed to carry out a brain scan, which would have identified a brain tumour to be the cause of 9 days of double vision. I was told this was because there were no staff. I left on day 3 as I was unable to wait any longer - I live alone and had a pet at home. I requested my documents from the hospital, which proved the following: A fraudulent diagnosis of “depression” on my file; That I had been tested for AIDS without my knowledge or consent; An allegation that I declined an MRI Shortly after leaving hospital, the brain tumour was identified via MRI at another hospital I gave St Thomas hospital an opportunity to remove the fraudulent diagnosis by a certain deadline without accepting liability – this was in the interests of quick resolution. The hospital rejected my offer. I made a subject access request under DPA and asked for a medical report to substantiate the diagnosis, details of where the diagnosis was made, by whom, what qualifications they had, what the presenting symptoms were and what the treatment plan was. Clearly this information would be on file if this was a genuine diagnosis. Unsurprisingly, the hospital failed to provide the information and the fraudulent data remains on my file. In any other sector, such criminal behaviour would be prosecuted because fraud is a criminal offence. The false diagnosis discredits me as a person and seeks to minimise my symptoms - I have no doubt that was the intention. Numerous advocacy groups has confirmed this is a very common NHS tactic. I don’t have the funds to instigate legal proceedings, so there is nothing I can do. The hospital blocked my review of the above account on the Patient Opinion website
