Review of St Peter's Hospice - Hospice at Home written by a family member
30th July 2020

The three family members who were present most of the time were very impressed with the way everything was so smoothly organized, and the love shown to the patient. Although the patient was sleeping most of the time, we feel sure he was aware of the gentle nurses who were attending him. We could tell he was in very caring, confident hands. We could not have been any more impressed with the care we all received, and would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. With love from (names).

That massage services is as relevant and important as physical medical treatment. The full massage service needs to be provided. E.g right environment. Peaceful room correctly lit, with calming music and smells e.g. lavender oils investigate usefulness other such treatments yoga mindfulness.

As the bereaved person, speaking to someone was helpful even though covid made it more difficult, everything was done to make it a good supportive experience.

It was such a relief when my mum was taken into the hospice so that pain and agitation could be managed. It would have been better if she could have been an inpatient sooner as the care at home is too hit and miss. Hospice, district nurses, social care.

Review of St Peter's PSS - Arts Psychotherapies written by a patient

My counsellor Judith was very good at ensuring I was in a safe place to talk privately. She listened well, understood my issues and was very sympathetic to them, making me feel valued, understood and normal. She rephrased my issues back to me and I could openly discuss what would be more difficult to friends or my (ill) partner, who I try to be strong for. I have limited experience with counselling, (once 25 years ago) and realize these are volunteers, however I expected a bit more guidance and advice and steering rather than just listening and rephrasing.

The knowledge that my husband was being cared for in very good hands and the ability for me to be able to take a break and sit in the garden was a very great weight taken off my shoulders.
