Very kind.

Suggested improvements
Maybe assign 1 person when checking up.

Response from St Mary's Hospital

I am not sure what you mean by ‘checking up’ – more detail would help look at this issue in detail. Assigning one member of staff is often difficult due to the nature of them working a shift rota basis. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.

UCAT is a non-judgemental service who have supported me when I have been rock bottom.

Suggested improvements
When care transferred back to CMHT I have some kind of follow up with CMHT.

Response from St Mary's Hospital

Thank you for your feedback, I am glad you had a positive experience with UCAT. If your care was transferred to CMHT you should indeed have follow up in place, I am not clear from the statement if you are confirming this happened or raising that it perhaps did not as yet. Please provide additional details if you have concerns and we will address these.

Thank you for your review. If the transition to CMHT is not smooth, please contact UCAT who will help you. Best wishes, Hugh Jones, Patient experience Manager

The rapid assessment clinic has made a difficult situation easier. Although it was a long appointment it was great to get an outcome on the day. The team were so supportive and we can’t thank them enough.

Suggested improvements
A cup of tea would have been nice but we brought drinks with us. Nothing else could have been better.

Review of CMHT Rockingham Triangle

Did nothing at all for my daughter. Had to be continually chased. No communication, no empathy. Didn't even do anything when she was sectioned. Terrible care, assigned staff not qualified enough for complex needs my daughter has. No referrals, these had to be initiated by my own professional. Even the most serious meeting (Adult Risk Management), CMHT didn't turn up and have not responded to a single email from other professionals. Adult Safeguarding Board now contacted. Complaints going to LADO, PALS and CQC

Literally anything!

I feel like they were more interested in diagnosing me and referring me to different teams depending on what label they believed fitted. I was confused as to all the different people involved. They cannot see the whole person if they are being passed around to different people. I appreciate that they want to help people and want to be kind. But I didn’t feel included enough in their decisions and at the time had difficulty understanding anyway, but it would have been a lot easier had they given me open, clear explanations. I did not feel seen or understood as a person- yes I was struggling to communicate, however that was the exact thing I needed help with- I needed self confidence and a sense of control and CMHT made that far worse.

Suggested improvements
Share all the decisions and data and conversations and reasons for your decisions with your patients directly. At least then I can feel included and understand. Work with the patient as a whole person, not at them as a diagnosis. You don’t need a qualification to help someone. Seriously, the people that helped me most were simply kind and open and ‘unqualified’ in mental health. The ‘lesser qualified’ receive less pay but do more work than the ‘qualified’. This is wrong. It should not be a hierarchy system. The words ‘help’ and ‘support’ do NOT qualify as help and support. Because I needed explanation, not platitudes.

Response from St Mary's Hospital

Thank you for your feedback. We are working hard to improve our communication with patients. We share copies of care plans with service users and any friends/ family that they want to be involved in their care. If any decisions are made, we endeavour to share this with people directly and can only apologise that this did not happen in your case.
