It was very reassuring for my wife and myself to receive the support of the community team ( Derek Hart) after I was discharged from Derriford Hospital with a prognosis of 'less than three months to live'. Liaison with doctors and nurses, advice on funding and support, help with form filling, advising on medication were just some of the tasks undertaken which was a tremendous help to us at a stressful time. Just being available was very comforting. Fortunately Derriford Hospital thought I was worth another try and I am now in remission. I feel thankful in the knowledge that, when the disease returns, the help and support will be there.
