Willow room is so noisy. I appreciate opposite kitchen during day time but night time is worse. Room is so claustrophobic. Staff at night you can hear them talking. But nurses looked after me well.

I accessed bereavement cancelling after a telephone assessment which felt supportive and comfortable. I was incredibly impressed with how quickly I was matched with a counselor and attended the tendering center once a week.
The cancelling helped me to not only feel I had a safe space to process my thoughts and feelings but to share these without being judged or feeling like a burden.
I learnt a lot about "normal" responses to grief and especially could clarify with the concept of a grief spiral. I felt listened to with a genuine sense of empathy. I also attended the Christmas memorial service which felt welcoming and special.

St Helena Hospice was awarded the iWantGreatCare certificate of excellence in 2024 for delivering outstanding care.
