I lost my husband David to cancer two years ago. He had been in the care of St Helena in the last few weeks of his life. Losing him left a massive gap in my life and unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, I was unable to visit the hospice to thank the staff & volunteers for the care they had shown David and also sit quietly to reflect. It felt like my whole world had been turned upside down. After a few months of struggling to cope, I reached out to St Helena for help. I was contacted by Lindy, a member of the bereavement support team. We struck up a relationship straight away over our weekly phone calls and I felt that I finally had someone to share my sadness with other than family. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for how Lindy has helped me through the last year or so. I have had a few bumps in the road along the way and she has always been there to listen and put me back on the right path. St Helena staff & volunteers are wonderful and I want to say a big thank you again to you all for your care for David and your support for me. Thank you again. Sue Hanton x
