Review of Clinical Nurse Specialists written by a patient

My first visit went very well. The nurse was cheerful, sympathetic, very informative and listened to my concerns. I already knew a far bit about my condition but she added extra useful information, and what I could expect in the way of help in the future. I was left pamphlets explaining everything I will need to know which will come in when/if my illness deteriorates. A satisfactory visit by Maxine.

It’s difficult to find the words to describe what an amazing place St Catherine’s is. Everyone is so caring and nothing is too much trouble. They treated my partner with dignity and respect at all times and they also involved me in the decision making. My partner wanted to stay at home for her last days but eventually she agreed to come in to the hospice. By the end of the day of admission she said she wished she had done it sooner and wanted to stay. There is a wonderful positive atmosphere but at the same time a calmness. If anyone is unsure about coming in to a hospice I can truly recommend St Catherine’s

Ursula came on a home visit was very professional and gave me some good advice and demonstrated how to apply the compression stockings more easily. Nothing was too much trouble and I was pleased to learn that I could phone her if I had any problems.

Suzanne was excellent at assessing the patient's needs and putting a care plan in place. She also came with the hospice doctor to review the pain control as we struggled to control it. I cannot praise the service we received highly enough, it made such a difference having that support.
