I was not happy at all with the service the hospital provided. I arrived early in the morning, feeling very nervous for my op as I had never been to theatre before & I was alone as my family were in work. I was reassured beforehand that I would be in safe hands with the hospital staff and I would have my own private room to chill out in until I was called to theatre (this was any time that day) I was taken to my room and was positioned right next to a room where workmen were working drilling, hammering. Not only was I very nervous but I had paid a lot of money for this operation and the service that came with this & I could far from settle. Only then my doctor had to speak to the Spire staff to move me rooms (knowing it was my first experience & he could understand how nerve wracking it was for me) later that day after my op I was taken back to my room (new one I was moved into) and the nurse wheeled me in & propped me on the bed, she left the door wide open & advised me that she will be straight back with my lunch that I had ordered that morning. I was in a room on the main corridor with my door left wide open, very noisy, patients & visitors all looking in on me and I could not move to close the door myself (I was in a lot of pain, felt fragile & embarrassed) 15-20 minutes later no one had yet arrived & I started to need the loo, so I got up very slowly to use the toilet & shut the main door & returned to my bed. Another 20-25 minutes went by & a memeber of staff finally checked up on me, she then advised I was unable to get up or move on my own and if I needed something I should always wait until someone is present. I had advised her that I had to use the toilet myself because no one had checked up on me or advised me of this since my op which was around 35-40 minutes ago. 1 hour went by and I was then brought my sandwich which I had ordered (far from speedy service) I was then advised I was unable to leave until the doctor had discharged me. My partner had finished work by this point and decided to visit me to see how I was feeling and was really to take me home, the staff had taken him to my old room (1st noisy one) to only then realise I was not actually in there. My partner had to stay in the corridor until they eventually realised which room I was in (seemed like that had no idea I as even there) once he finally found me, I was told to wait for my doctor. 2 hours or so went by and I had asked a staff member when I was being discharged, she advised she is not dealing with my room & was unsure but she would speak to the member of staff that was and will come straight back to me. More time went by and still no answer, I was very angry by this point and I had managed to find the lady that was covering my room myself, she stated that no one had advised her I was wanting her and asked what I wanted. I asked again... when I will be discharged & her reply was 'I didn't realise you were still here, thought you had been discharged?' she then chased up my doctor up as she could see I was very upset and annoyed by the poor service I had paid such a large sum of money for. She then only returned to advise he left hours ago and had to search for another doctor to discharge me (who had no idea who I was) This experience still affects me to this day, I would not go back or pay those prices for such a poor service
