Share review of Scunthorpe General Hospital
The staff on reception and the nurse that booked my daughter (4 years old) in we’re lovely. They were kind and very informative. However when Dr Calin saw us, he made a number of remarks that would scare any child. Also, when my daughter refused to open her mouth for him to check her throat, I tried to talk her round but Dr Calin just got stroppy (for lack of a better word), disposed of the stick and his gloves and said to leave it, whilst flailing his arms in the air. I was not happy with the way he handled a 4 year old’s response to having a stranger shove something in their mouth. If it was anyone else, they would also feel the same way. He was not patient at all with her nor was he very informative. I kept asking him what I had to do to make sure my daughter was feeling better. And when I did, he would seemingly become annoyed by my questions. He then said he can’t say what is wrong but it could be x,y,z which really worried me. But he did nothing to quench those worries. Instead intensified them when I asked that it would all be nothing and just myself overreacting? I was not happy at all with the level of care he provided as my daughter and I waited for 3 hours for this treatment, and in the end she wasn’t treated at all, just because She didn’t ope her mouth for him to inspect her throat. She is still unwell and due to having wasted our time and energy with Dr Calin, I know that next time I will contact 111 directly. At least we will not be treated the way Dr Calin treated us
