I have no fault whatsoever with the standard of care I received whilst in A&E, the doctors and nursing staff were kind and courteous throughout. I was kept well informed as to what was being done which was very helpful to me as I suffer from anxiety and regular conversations with staff helped ease my nervousness. I was given a very thorough examination and didn’t feel that my care was compromised or cut short. I spent two and a half hours in A&E and it didn’t feel anywhere near that long. I observed staff on reception being very polite and courteous to new arrivals, many of the other patients present were often less than tactful to staff and often complained about having to wait, however staff remained professional throughout whereas (if I were in their shoes) I would’ve had difficulty showing restraint. I felt comfortable during my stay and felt the measures in place to protect against COVID-19 were exceptional, unfortunately many of the other patients present did not strictly adhere to COVID guidelines despite there being many instructions clearly visible (printed on a size substantially larger than an A4 piece of paper), staff would have been within their rights to instruct people to follow the rules but didn’t as I suspect they feared an altercation with the patient which is greatly unfortunate, to summarise the patients were often a source of concern but the nursing staff were absolutely impeccable.

Suggested improvements
As stated above the care I received was absolutely impeccable, nothing could have been done better.
