My mum was admitted to Juniper Ward at Scarborough Hospital when she was very poorly and vulnerable. During such a difficult and stressful time for our family, the care, kindness and compassion shown by the staff were exceptional. Not only did they look after my mum with dignity and professionalism, but they also supported my dad and me, which meant so much to us. We will be forever grateful for the care they provided. A special thank you to Benson, Jo, Shelly, Tina, Debbie, Matthew, Rebecca, Alan, Manjot, Julie, Mandy and Poppy. Every member of the team was welcoming, approachable and genuinely caring. They work incredibly well together, and it's clear that Juniper Ward is made up of a truly special team. Thank you all for everything you did for our family. We will never forget your kindness and support.

The only staff that I feel gave me care and compassion was the theatre staff. Staff on both the day surgery ward and Maple ward were cold and uncaring. Whilst I appreciate the staff/patient ratio creates a heavy workload, a little kindness and care would have been nice. Even when I was became upset after many hours on Maple ward not one staff member even asked what was wrong. I was lucky enough to leave hospital after one night. I left in chronic pain and had to travel over an hour to get home.

I had a life saving operation in August due to me having Sepsis and a perforated appendix. I was on the Maple Ward in Scarborough hospital for 2 weeks. Luckily I am still here. Due to my operation, I had to have a stoma bag for 7 months as my bowels was on the outside of my stomach. I had a operation 2 weeks ago for a bowel reversal which meant another 3 nights on the maple ward. The doctors, nurses, the surgical team who popped in after I had my operation to see how I was doing, even the ladies who delivered food to the ward, they are all absolutely amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. They was so kind, caring and compassionate. I have a fear of hospitals and needles, but the nurses was really kind and explained what was going to happen when they did any treatment on me. It made my stay in hospital a lot easier.

I had a hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic at Scarborough Hospital in November 2025. Every single member of staff I encountered provided exceptional care. The staff on Haldane ward such as Rebecca, Martina and Emmanuel were brilliant and made me feel very welcome and relaxed before and after the op. The team in the waiting area for surgery were friendly and reassuring as were the team who gave me the general anaesthetic. Manzi in recovery was wonderful, I felt so reassured waking up from general anaesthetic to her effective care and lovely, warm manner. My surgeon Dr Haylock was absolutely outstanding, as were her team including Mohamed. They were very warm, professional, reassuring and explained everything very well. I had the absolute best surgery experience I could have hoped for and I’m very grateful to all the wonderful staff at Scarborough and particularly on Haldane ward.
