Worried about repeated leaks I contacted Kate , MEDILINK Community Nurse and asked if it was possible to do a home visit. I was a little concerned that there was nothing to be done and I would just have to put up with all the inconveniences and disruptions.Kate arrived as agreed, listened to what I said and physicall examined my stoma. She immediately recognised that my cut bags were too small at 28mm and said I needed 34/35 after her careful and gentle measuring. She discussed problems and cut me a bag at 34/35.She fitted this without a mouldable seal (first time anyone ever suggested this to me). Result perfect fitting! She then proceeded to cut a box of bags to new size. I was overwhelmed with her professionalism, lovely manner and obvious experience in dealing with a problem which has bothered me for months, Thank you Kate. She has given me confidence and will follow up in a weeks time.I am really thankful and grateful for all she did for me.Excellent response and support. John O’G

Suggested improvements
Encourage us to find out about our community stoma nurse role; I thought I was only entitled for home visits only during the six weeks after leaving hospital. I think I misunderstood as visits were severely restricted during pandemic.
