As a doctor myself, qualifying in 1991, I have worked in and visited many hospitals. My experience here is absolutely unique. There is a wonderfully pervasive culture of "patient first". This is evident from the moment one enters the Hospital ( friendly, helpful Volunteers), to the Porters who take time to introduce themselves and spend time chatting and putting one at ease. The ward staff ( ward 3) are exceptional. I cannot praise them enough. Again, totally patient centred. Everyone makes eye contact with a smile and genuine empathy. Little things as a frightened patient which make big differences: the house keeping staff topping up water glasses before taking the jug to replenish, and then ensuring everything is in easy reach. Thank you.
