I met with the dietitian on one occasion when she was visiting my elderly Mum on Burghfield ward at the Royal Berkshire hospital, when I was on a visit there. She was very pleasant and seemed to understand that Mum had no appetite and tried several additional supplements to increase her nutritional intake. She understood the swallowing issue that led to a stent being fitted.

Suggested improvements
Although the dietitian was very good, the nurses on the ward seemed confused as to what was required in terms of level of blending. Mum was often given the level 3 puree menu when she was actually advised by the dietitian to try level 5 moist and minced food. Not sure if this was due to documentation in notes, or nurses not reading up to date notes. Mum did not really understand the whole situation and so would not have thought to ask the nurses herself about having thicker foods.
