My experience in Ward 21 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley was genuinely exceptional, and I cannot thank the staff enough for the care and kindness they showed me during my stay. I was admitted after suffering from two severely swollen ankles which left me unable to walk. From the moment I arrived on the ward, every single member of staff treated me with compassion, understanding, and dignity. Despite needing help with even the smallest things — such as opening a window or passing me my bottle of juice because I couldn’t do it myself — I was never once made to feel like a nuisance or inconvenience. Every staff member who came into my room throughout the day, whether to carry out observations, administer medication, offer meals, or respond to my nurse buzzer, was consistently warm, friendly, and caring. What stood out most was that they always took a moment for a brief conversation before moving on to their next patient. They clearly understood how lonely and difficult a hospital stay can feel, and those small interactions made such a huge difference in helping the days feel easier and pass a little quicker. The patience shown by the staff was something I will never forget. At no point did I feel rushed or pressured while trying to complete even the most basic tasks. They fully understood my situation and allowed me all the time I needed, always reassuring and supporting me throughout. When I was first admitted to Ward 21, I was completely unable to get out of bed to use the toilet and had to rely on a bed pan. The staff were always incredibly quick and efficient whenever I needed assistance, ensuring I had everything I required. They were equally respectful of my dignity, either staying to help or giving me privacy depending entirely on what made me feel most comfortable. Everything about my care felt tailored to what was best for me as an individual. Another thing that truly amazed me was the response time whenever I needed help. Whether I needed medication, assistance getting to the toilet, or help with any other issue, I never waited more than two or three minutes before a nurse was at my door ready to help. It was honestly a breath of fresh air compared to experiences I’ve had in other hospitals, where I’ve unfortunately encountered rude staff, poor care, and waits of over 35 minutes for someone to answer a buzzer. Ward 21 at the RAH was the complete opposite. I would especially like to mention Adele, Nicola, Ashley, and Kirsty from Ward 21, who were the main members of staff caring for me during my stay. I arrived feeling embarrassed and vulnerable as a 25-year-old woman who, due to trauma, had suddenly been left unable to walk. Their kindness, patience, understanding, and compassion made an incredibly difficult experience so much easier, and it is something I will never forget. Thank you so much to everyone on Ward 21. The staff there truly deserve far more recognition for the incredible work they do. If every hospital could provide the same level of care, kindness, and professionalism as Ward 21 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, so many more people would have a positive hospital experience.

No vegan food! In 24 hours all they could provide was a slice of white toast, it was like eating cardboard. Why dont hospitals serve healthy food? No wonder theyre full. There wasnt even a vegetarian option for the evening meal and the meateaters got exactly the same sandwiches they had at lunch. Seriously RAH? Shocking.

Last week on Thursday the 21st of March I was operated on to remove a umbilical hernia. The treatment I received was outstanding The surgeon Erin helped me greatly as did Simon who ensured I was pain free throughout the procedure. Finally Jennifer a nurse in the ward was superb. The NHS is in safe hands with staff like this. Finally a massive thanks to Elaine the medical secretary who assisted me greatly.

WARD 3 Staff have let this hospital down. Other Ward's staff had higher scores which is why the scores here aren't zero. HOWEVER, The Staff on Ward 3 are rude, abrasive, yell at patients, treat visitors like an intrusive inconvenience. They don't appear to realise how difficult it is for long-term patients to be stuck in hospital for weeks on end. - and this is a rehab Ward!! A change in Staff, retraining and at very least a reprimand from seniors is required here. Yes, we know they are overworked & underpaid bur as they have a captive audience they should practice a decent bedside manner or go and get jobs as prison guards!! Seriously very disappointed.

X-ray appointment was excellent. Arrived in the RAH car park at 10.07. My appointment was complete and I was back in the car by 10.30. Reception staff were bright, friendly and efficient throughout. I sat in the waiting room for three minutes before being called. The Radiographer was very polite, friendly and efficient also. The facility was clean and modern and the process lasted about two minutes in total. I was advised it may be up to two weeks for my GP to advise me of the results (need to wait and see how that bit goes). In general the RAH Paisley appeared clean and ready for business. Minor point, masks are required when inside the facility and it was great to see that free masks were available at the door. May be worth adding a note to appointment letter to advise patients of this requirement and encourage them to bring their own. All in all a great NHS experience today. Thank you to all who continue to make the NHS a great institution.

I was seen at RAH clinic by Mr P McGoey on 19th July as I have a lump in my stomach. I was told 2-3 weeks for a scan to see what this lump was. To-day is the 19th September and not had any notice of my ct scan yet. I am now pleased at this delay as the lump is affecting my life with feeling of sickness and pain now. I have phone the surgeons secretary a few times and after she checked for me, I was given news of a scan would be very soon. So far nothing at all. I need to have this scan asap as no one knows what the lump is
