I have been attending Ross Hall for most of this year due to terrible, painful gut problems. The gastroenterologist I was seeing was nice to begin with, however his attitude changed significantly when I was given an endoscopy. I generally do not respond to sedation, due to anxiety disorder, and this seemed to be a matter of some hilarity to this consultant. The nurses were absolutely lovely, but the consultant was arrogant and made me feel really stupid. On a follow up appointment, he was dismissive, rude and talked over my head to my husband as though I wasn’t there. I gather that my symptoms and lack of answers are beyond his area of expertise, but rather than admit that, he insisted all my problems are due to my anxiety disorder. I left feeling utterly humiliated and extremely distressed as I have no idea what I’m going to do next. I have poor quality of life and this consultant simply does not care. Atrocious bedside manner and totally uncaring. I’m not keen to name him, but this experience has made it virtually impossible for me to have any confidence in who to choose to see next. My advice is to choose very carefully and try to find out what the consultant is like before you see them.
