All members of staff were very pleasant and caring. From the cleaners to the nursing staff, theatre staff and everyone else. The only criticism I have was the pain I had after the operation. After the surgery I was seen by someone(can't remember her post title), but she told me the pain medication she had prescribed for me. One of the meds was Oxycodone and she said it was available on demand. At 11pm I was in a lot of pain and wanted to try to sleep. I buzzed for the nurse on duty and asked for more pain relief, the only time I had asked out-with regular doses and she told me I had to wait until 2am. That was 3 hours of chronic pain. I didn't want to say the Dr earlier had told me the oxycodone was available as required as I wasn't sure if I misunderstood. But I hadn't. Also when I was discharged from hospital and had to travel 3 hours home. I was give 30ml of oxycodone, so being prescribed 4 x 3ml a day, this was only enough to see me from Friday to half way through Sunday, so I had to ring my GP to ask for another prescription on the way home. I do feel I should have been kept in longer given the the distance I live from the hospital or at least have check that the pain was under control before I went home. I was in agony for the 1st 2-3 weeks.
