Within the SDEC are I was treated was a select number of comfortable chairs. I assume these are for use by patients, however on my arrival more than 50% of them were consumed by visitors and not patients. At no point did anybody offer a seat or did a member of staff ask them to move from a seat. One family were using 4 seats and only had 1 patient. I ended up having to sit on a rigid plastic chair while receiving intravenous medication. To make matters worse one of the culprits was a trainee Dr who was with her father, not only did she take up patient seating, she made up a bed in an assessment bay for her father to sleep in so he could be more comfortable!. The sheer audacity!.
