I was brought in via private ambulance from an event and was seen & xrayed promptly. However then once my results showed no break, I was moved from department to department, ending up with a seat and no way to elevate my injury. I had to lie on the floor to stop feeling nausea, I was given no Ice and when I needed pain relief I had to ask 4 times repeatedly. I was told by day shift nurses 3 times that I had 3 people infront of me in the queue, then 4 hours later I was told I’m next to be seen. The night duty head nurse then arrived and changed the method in which people were being seen, and then I was told there are 5 people in front of me after having already waiting 9 hours in that one department. I had already been in the hospital for 2 hours prior in different department.

Suggested improvements
The communication and care I was given was next to none. When I told the head nurse that I’d not been given any care, she asked me “if I’d escalated this” I wasn’t aware that receiving basic care was something that as a patient I had to ‘escalate’. I was also lied to by the head nurse to say the system hadn’t been changed however when asked why I’d been told by nurses that I was next to be seen and then suddenly I was 6th, she wasn’t able to give me an answer. I self discharged and was asked to sign a form to state I was discharging against medical advice when I hadn’t received any medical advice.
