This was my second visit. Both were poor apart from engagement with doctors. Your SDEC system is not fit for purpose. The same group of people moved through together without any obvious streaming. I was fortunate in seeing specialist docs but that did not move me any further forward. I was told by the doctor at about 7:30 that I was being discharged but when the critical situation was announced two hours later and I opted for self discharge my papers were still in a pile waiting to be looked at. And I was lucky as folk were told they’d be there all night. If I have to visit again I’ll go outside the area as reports I see are that this is the usual position.

Suggested improvements
How about scrapping the whole system and having a complete rethink on what works elsewhere? How about replacing the paper files with a tablet based system so that info goes straight online? The staff did their best in spite of the system but things need to change fundamentally and quickly
