I have glaucoma and take eye drops twice a day. I am pleased that regular checks can be made with an optometrist in Denmead, something which, I should imagine, suits the hospital as well as me
All 4 members of staff were incredibly nice. The two initial nurses who took my blood pressure, weight and height were lovely and up for a laugh, the following nurse I saw who ran me through the health questions and diet etc. was so helpful, had an answer for all my questions and completely put me at ease, was incredibly professional. The following nurse who took my blood was brilliant, really made me laugh and made the whole experience fly past, a great team overall.
Since 1973- I am a regular patient of this department- have always been a "walk in clinic" & happy with the 'ticket' system- till this appointment only system took too long to get seen to - I was early but waited almost ONE HOUR till I was seen ( far too long & never with this ticket system??- why change it now?)
Also I have noticed more & more young OAP's Late 50's up to 70's requesting hearing tests & expecting 'free' NHS hearing aids whereas they have only turned deaf or hard of hearing causing this long waiting periods to get an hearing aid - which by rights should have gone to 'Boots' or 'Specsavers' for a affordable cheaper hearing aid & not to take advantage of NHS aids which should be reserved for those that were born deaf or have hearing problems most of their lives etc. - this will saved the NHS funding drains?
Therefore change back to the walk- in clinic & instruct only those just become age related deafness or hard of hearing to go private? ( note I have been deaf all my life since meningitis at the age of 4 years old & have extremely difficult hearing problems that costs far too much if I go private? & I have paid all my working life the NIC which I am fully entitled to NHS services?)
The guys on F6 couldn't have been more helpful. 100% professional, friendly, caring and all round good guys.
I have nothing constructive to say
Staff were very friendly and nothing seemed to much trouble, all services on ward were also good, details about discharge was print and not to much waiting around.
Thank you to everyone from the surgeon the theatre staff through to the nursing staff.
Everyone was lovely I could not have asked for better care anywhere.
Recovery wards one and two the nurses work so hard to get everyone up and on there feet ready to go home they are so caring and nothing is too much trouble.
Its so nice to able to get back home as soon as possible
I have complete confidence in the medical staff and nursing staff. However, having been in A and E twice the previous week, before my elective surgery, the anaesthetist or the consultant were not aware of this on the computer. Had the information been there, they perhaps would have known that my blood count was on the way down. Only when I advised them on the situation were they aware of this. This could be an area for improvement.
I would like to thank Mona, who clearly explained about my diagnosis of osteoporosis which was a surprise to me after a recent fall and broken elbow.
She answered all my questions and gave me a folder and wide range of information for me to read and understand my condition.
The area was clean and tidy. Reception was friendly and efficient. Magazine area needs updating and kept tidy. Also notice should be prominent asking people to dispose of their water cups in the bin provided. Apt to leave empty and partially filled cups on the table where the magazines are. Also try to update magazines, they were looking very worn and tatty.
