16 days ago my 75 yr old mum fell,, she has emphysema and a7cn aortic aneurysm,, when my parents rang the after of hours dr he told my dad,,my dad to,,,,,,"Bunge her in the car and bring her to A&E",,, she's a 75 yr old woman ,, NOT a sack of potatoes,, other than that give her pain killers. My dad contacted their GP the following day and the GP refused to come out,, that my mum HAD to go to see the GP. After 16 days my mums pain was getting worse. I live in South Africa,, I contacted the specialist who's treating my mum for this aortic aneurysm,, they like us were disgusted with the GP's lack of empathy and home visit,, THEY,, rang the GP and demanded a home visit for my mum. After the home visit my mum was taken by ambulance to the princess of Wales hospital,, as an emergency case,,, to then have to wait to have X-ray and scans only to waited a further 5 hours to be sent home with pain killers,, and had to go home by car as an ambulance wasn't available,, and yet they knew that was the only way she could get to hospital without increasing her already unbearable level of pain. My point being,, why was it necessary for me to have to phone from South Africa to get my mum treatment in the 1st place,, and when it was agreed,,"oh yes you need various tests", was she then treated like that above mentioned sack of potatoes and yet,,,, a prisoner came in hand cuffed and was treated and back out the door in less than 1/2 hour,, they weren't in pain,, no signs of breathing difficulty,. Where is the level of care for patients?? This is the 2nd bad experience I have had regarding the standard of care fo patients at the Princess of Wales hospital this year. My sister in law was admitted in January and died there 4 weeks later,, after her death the dr treating her had STILL not read up on her rare genetic condition,, so again I ask where was that Drs level of care then?? The sooner something is done to the whole structure of that hospital the better,, it's a complete and utter disgrace to the Princess of Wales herself!!!!!
