Pinderfields General Hospital

I'm a 32 year old NHS patient who was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2024. I opted for a mastectomy with a DIEP flap reconstruction using my abdominal tissue. I was referred to another surgeon before I saw Mr Holmes. The other surgeon made it clear that I wouldn't be happy with the outcome of the surgery aesthetically and the nerves in my abdomen wouldn't be preserved so I would lose the strength of my abdominal muscles. I contacted Mr Holmes after my negative experience with the initial surgeon to query saving my nerves in my abdomen. He responded immediately saying it was standard procedure to save the nerves. From the get go he was professional, approachable and addressed all my concerns. He put me at ease from the moment I had contact with him and at all my subsequent appointments. He was always patient focused, reassuring and I always felt like he had my best interests at heart. The surgery went brilliantly and the team at Pinderfields were amazing. I am so happy with the results of my operation even though it has just been a few weeks post op. I cannot thank Mr Holmes and the team at Pinderfields enough. Mr Holmes has given me a part of me back that I thought I had lost in my cancer journey. Thank you for being a light in the grey cloud of cancer. Mr Holmes is a credit to both the NHS and any private clinics he works for. I am so pleased it was him that did my surgery and I wouldn't trust anybody other than him for any other procedure. If you are unsure if Mr Holmes is the surgeon for you let this review be the deciding factor. Mr Holmes is a perfectionist and will operate on you with the same care he would operate on a family member. Thank you again Mr Holmes- you are amazing!
