I didn’t know what to expect but the experience I have received with the hospice has far outweighed my expectations. I have thoroughly enjoyed the well-being days which have put purpose back into my life, prevented the isolation and given me a structure to my week . I had help from Zoe with the housing form for Thanet Council which helped me get onto the housing list. Sara the Occupational Therapist came out to see the flat with me and gave me some very good advice. I have also attended the Living with Fatigue sessions and have recently started the seated exercise sessions. I also attend the Time to Create sessions. I would like to continue with the Tuesday well-being sessions but I understand that I am limited to 12 sessions only. This is a real shame because we really bonded as a group and I think the funding needs to be looked at as a matter of priority so that perhaps these sessions could be run several days a week thereby allowing more people to benefit. Maybe you could make a nominal charge for the sessions and ask people what they would be willing to pay. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff from the receptionists who are the first people to greet us when we arrive at the hospice to the lovely chefs who prepare our meals (although I do wish they would stop adding paprika to everything!) The ladies that run the groups are excellent. Big shout out to Jane, Kim, Jess, Alison and not forgetting Rachel. As a suggestion, maybe the Hospice who has suggested that we move onto community groups could keep a more comprehensive list in their folder. I would be prepared to help with this and there may be others who know of local groups.
