I was at Pilgrims Hospice Ashford for approximately ten days, the care and attention that I received started the minute I walked through the door. The Dr's, Nurses, Care workers, Volunteer's everyone was totally on board with making you feel comfortable, at home, their support and kindness knows no bounds, you are included in every decision about your care that is made from the very beginning. The Doctors are so good at asking you what you want, need and expect regarding your care, they will explain in detail, more than once if necessary, what they feel needs to happen for your recovery, between you a plan is made and put in place with lots of meetings along the way to ensure that you are happy with your progress or something may need tweeking, again you are involved in the whole process. The care that is given is truly wonderful ~ the staff will do anything they can to help and support you during your stay ~ their kindness and care is given in such abundance, it never stops, whether holding hand for reassurance, giggling along with you on a good day, making a cup of tea at 3.30am, helping you shower or dress, nothing is too much trouble, they are always there with a helping hand, smile and a huge heart ~ the difference it makes knowing they are there willing you on through everything is priceless! Amazing bunch of ladies, they truly are angels. The food is so very lovely and always served with a huge smile from the wonderful chefs and catering staff, it's freshly made, so nicely presented best of all tastes fabulous every time, they are happy to (within reason) cook something other than on the menu for you, all digests are taken into account, but you will definitely go home after being very well fed ! Overall the whole experience was superb, it exceeded my expectations ten fold, I was so glad that I had the pleasure to be a patient there, I had Well Being classes, Reflexology etc all helping with my recovery, it is certainly somewhere I would be more than happy to go back to in the future ~ I feel blessed to have been cared for and supported by these wonderfully kind and generously hearted people, don't ever change !!
