I was recently a patient in Mansfield Day Surgery Ward for 2 weeks. I was taken in by an ambulance . I was admitted due to breaking my tibia and fibula bones in my leg. My leg was still swollen which is why my stay was longer as they couldn’t operate straight away. All the staff (day and night) from the hostesses, paramedics, nurses, sisters, doctors, surgeons, cleaners, physiotherapists and chefs etc were just amazing. The nurses/sisters were just so lovely patient and always made me feel better. They helped me wash, use the commode, changed my bedding daily and made sure I had my medication when I should and had regular blood pressure etc checks. They also made sure lunch/dinner menus were filled in. The ward was clean and nothing was too much trouble for them if I needed anything. After my operation, the night nurses really took care of me as I was very poorly. The nurses made sure I had all my medication packed for discharge and physiotherapists made sure I would be safe at getting home so they arranged for an ambulance to take me home. This was a terrible accident that has changed my life completely. I was so scared about going into hospital and staying in for so long but because of the way I was looked after, I will always be forever grateful. Thank you NHS Selena Gregoriou
