I had an appointment with Nurse Louise Taylor in November because I was experiencing leaks. She appreciated that for many years I had used flushable bags and didn't want to change. So she suggested using protective seals around the stoma. Unfortunately these didn't work. Then together we realised that the leaks only occurred when my output was more liquid and came up the idea of using a convex drainable bag when my output was liquid and using the flushable bags when it is more formed.

I have been unsure and unhappy with my current bags due to the high number of bags with failing filters, and the charcoal staining my clothes. Louise advised and guided me to a selection of bags that may be better. Great advice from Louise and I took home some bags to try.

I always have had a good service from NAMS I ring when I need a prescription and within a couple of days my order is received. If I have any problems I have always been put in touch with a stoma nurse and I have always received an excellent service.

Suggested improvements
I don’t think there is anything that could have been done better.

Fully satisfied with everything about my appointment, the way I was received and the courtesy shown. After nearly 8 years of having a stoma, I do have sometime difficulties in removing the stoma bag so I was given a tube of spray remover to try. Should it be ok without any skin reaction I shall include it in my next prescription.

Louise has been excellent throughout this course of treatment and my stoma skin problem has certainly improved through her treatment options. We have now decided to drop back to the annual assessment unless the problem re-occurs.
