The service were very helpful and knowledgeable. I was so happy there were willing to take suggestions from my physio team (and other specialists). The best moment was when I had multiple different cushions delivered so I could have a week to try each one, this was very useful to me and gave me more choice than I belived were available. Unfortunately I had explained that I am autistic and struggle to understand verbal communication and this was not fully understood by the team. this lead to me not being shown any visual options when choosing wheelchair parts. So I chose options which were not what I belived they were (when not given visual choices I just say yes not knowing what I am agreeing too). I have had to spend approximately £1000 on replacement parts and I worry that this would affect other autistic patients (and other patients who are death, hard of hearing or have learning disabilities) and other patients may not be able to work for or save enough money to make their wheelchair meet their needs. having a variety of parts to actually see (breaks and wheelchair sides) would really help.
