When my mother in law was admitted, she was put on the ward. The white board did not have the additional information that she is diabetic. She didn't know what time her operation was so when the anaesthetist arrived on the afternoon, she hadn't had anything to eat for hours. She was immediately tested for blood glucose. This was not good enough as the information had been supplied to the admission nurse 2 weeks previously.
