I fell down my stairs on Christmas Day my grandson called an ambulance as my head had a nasty cut. The ambulance crew were fantastic When I got to Inverclyde hospital the dr who put staples in my head was absolutely outstanding so caring and talked me through every stage she was fantastic in every way as were the nurses A credit to their profession. Thank you for your care well done

I was admitted to inverclyde on 23rd September with severe breathlessness. I was there for just over six weeks and have been diagnosed with fibrosis of the lungs. During my stay stay I was treated with nothing but respect and kindness from all the nurses and doctors. They all work so hard and try their best often under difficult circumstances to make everybody under their care get the best care they can give them. It’s not just physical ailments the nurses deal with but a lot of mental ailments too. Thank you so much for looking after me I was so scared when I came into the hospital at first .

A fantastic hospital with wonderful caring and helpful staff. Every member of staff I came into contact with was friendly, caring and helpful. Everything was fully explained to me and a quick diagnosis was made. I was treated so well and consideration was giving to the distance we had to travel to get to the hospital. Anyone receiving treatment at the hospital is very lucky.

It was a Friday morning. My husband was taken in a nurse called Phyllis was very nice. My husband had complicated illnesses.. However I was never taken aside and told he was going to die. I even came home on the friday lunch to get clean stuff for him etc.. I went back he was in a room on his own..a nurse shouting at him as I entered the room. She said hed dropped the call alarm. I noticed a sign saying palliative care...the penny didnt drop...then Phyllis the nice nurse advised my daughter we dont go home and stay...the nurse who had shouted at him..threw a mattress etc on the floor...plus my husband had deteriorated since I left to go home for clothes etc. Phyllis ever so nice called in and asked if we wanted a priest or clergy..I replied what for.....but at no point did anyone tell me he wasnt going to make it. Suppose ppl reading this think I was in denial..maybe I was I dont know...Later the loud nurse came in and I asked if they had a larger oxygen mask...the one he had on was tight on his lips...well she said NO. She offered a nasal one. She also turned round and said ...I'll take that..he wont be needing it anymore....and slammed out. It was snowing some staff couldn't make it in...I understand that. Phyllis popped in and out asking how we were etc. She was polite etc. Well at 8.30 I held my husbands hand as he took his final breaths. It was like I was dreaming. WHY HAD NO ONE TOLD ME HE WOULDNT MAKE IT...yet let me come home get his clothes iPad phone etc. My daughter later told me the loud nurse was newish from south Africa. My only wish is that as his next of kin...they had told me... If they told my daughter or not I dont know..I dont think so.....anyway Phyllis and her young nurse were good....cant say much for the rest.

My wife is a patient. A fall necessitated her admission to IRH. The staff caring for her have been very kind and attended to her needs very well. My greatest concern is that in the 22 days since admission my wife has been moved to other wards late at night on 3 occasions when normally, sleep would have been the obvious norm. I have visited twice daily, every day, at the same times and a nurse friend of long standing each afternoon. Today I was with her until after 19:00 hours as usual. At about 21:30 hours she whipped away to another ward, As with the other moves no notice was given. They have my number, nothing. On Friday, October 6th, She was taken by ambulance to the Beatson for a scan leaving at 08:00 hours accompanied by a nurse. They returned to the IRH by 12:00 hours and all we were told was it was either the wrong day or the wrong hospital. The ambulance driver told staff prior to leaving the IRH that there was a concern because patients normally go to the Royal for that procedure. His comment fell on deaf ears. No enquiry was attempted to ascertain if the trip was correctly planned. I am concerned not only for the inconvenience to my wife, but also for the unnecessary cost for the NHS when we are so often reminded of how much missed appointments cost. Room for improvement? Definitely. Paper trails tell you nothing unless they look at and understood and then followed up to better the great service we expect from our NHS. Perhaps, some day we will get political appointees worthy of the necessary task of returning our health service to the high standard it used to be so proud of. With my sincere best wishes and apologies to the Charge Nurse on G South who bore the brunt of my vexations and frustration on the evening of 11/10/2023. Thank you for your calm handling of my rant.

Had a GP referral to attend Cardiology Outpatients for 24 hour heart monitor. Waited 11 weeks for appointment. Returned monitor and 4 weeks after not having been advised of results phoned department and was advised ‘recording hasn’t yet been analysed’. Now 6 weeks and still not advised of results. I am anxious as one parent had heart attack, other parent had aortic valve replacement. Feel waiting over 17 weeks for diagnosis is too long.
