I used to be a Hospiscare volunteer for many years, going back to when it was based in a cottage at Mowbray, and so I knew about the dedication to first-class service, going the extra mile, being totally patient-centred, I could go on - staff training, helping the volunteer to help the patient, enablement, etc. But the care and support I've received as a patient has far exceeded what I had anticipated. I feel as though I am in knowledgable and safe hands. When I made the decision to cease chemotherapy and be treated by the Hospice, I was a bit nervous and a little frightened of what lay ahead. Not now. Or not so much now! Another aspect of care I really respect is their honesty in discussing my case. I don't feel as though anything is concealed from me or that nurses are afraid to give me information that may be difficult. Thank you.
