The advisor I spoke to was so understanding and kind, listened to my concerns and gave me some really good practical advice. She was very empathetic (I burst into tears at one point and she was incredibly kind and supportive) and I felt she really listened to me.

Unable to answer my question fully as it's not straight forward, but spoke me through different options we had. Listened to what I was saying and sympathetic to the situation. Offered advice and made me felt listened to. Doctors had previously brushed us off. Kind and caring. Informed us to call back if the options used didn't work.

I do not think a good service was provided. I have friends who live in other areas who have face to face reviews at developmental milestones, which is what I had expected when I had concerns. My daughter hasn't been seen since a young baby, everything since has been questionnaires. I rang with concerns, my daughter was referred to physio, which was helpful, this was a while ago and I have now received a letter in the post asking for more information. I think it would of been helpful if these questiones were explored during the referral? Following my phone call flagging concerns I was sent a questionnaire to fill in and return. I had expected to receive a follow up appointment of some sort but instead I received something in the post with some leaflets, some were helpful - and with a note saying "please call advise line in 3 months if no progression with development". I found this quite upsetting and very vague when I have rung due to concerns. I called the advice line again and I spoke to someone helpful who went in more detail about my concerns. I was told someone had tried to call, i had no missed calls or voicemail. I was actually quite upset by this hand written response that was extremely unhelpful when I was worried about my daughters development.

I have been incredibly upset at my experience on the phone with this service I had on Friday. I felt not listened to by the health visitor and my concerns with regards my sons speech development completely dismissed. I won’t be calling again.

  • Listen to the concerns of the child’s parent, they know their child the best.
