On the whole my experience was good. However, was given wrong information on the phone about where to arrive, as the delivery suite had been shut down. They still took me in to delivery suite when I arrived in labour but the Midwife I was greeted by, made me feel unwanted and almost made me feel stupid, not believing I was in labour. Her attitude did improve after a while but It made me cry when I first arrived. Once I got my Midwife Rachel, I felt much calmer and in safe, caring hands. She was great during my emergency C-section and offered great care. On the maternity ward, the staff did their best in understaffed conditions. They showed great care. However, as they were so understaffed and doctors were not available for hours, I had to wait several hours for pain relief after a c-section.

Suggested improvements
Cleaning wasn't something I saw. On all my hospital visits, I have never seen floors being cleaned. Scunthorpe hospital doesn't have a sterile smell, which is worrying. I used the bathroom and was told to leave my urine sample and the a blood accident on the floor and was told someone would go in and clean up. Over 4/5 hours later, it was still in the bathroom. I would liked to have seen staff using hand sanitiser in between seeing another patient and hen coming to see me. This didn't happen. Also, the little sink in our bay didn't get used by staff, makes me wonder if they were hand washing at all. The knowledge and care of staff was brilliant.
