Staff under huge pressure but performed well even so. Slight concern when I realised my wound had not been checked until just before discharge. Night staff could be curt and on one occasion very rude to another patient in the bay.

Very thorough, very caring, friendly and completely explained the situation so that I understood it.
I was very nervous and they put me at ease.
I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke on 3 February and was looked after by Dr Dutta and his team in the Stroke Unit (Ward 6B)
Fortunately I was able to go home after three days. Today was my follow up assessment at the Rehabilitation clinic
I cannot properly express my thanks and admiration for these guys but am profoundly grateful that the people of Gloucestershire have them available when needed
We should be very proud of our NHS
Thank you
I can't thank the staff at the delivery suite enough for the high level of care they gave me during and after labour. It wasn't a straight forward labour and staff acted quickly and professionally and kept both my husband and I fully informed of what was happening.
All staff were very kind and sympathetic. They explained each procedure carefully and made you understand what was happening.
The hospital was very clean and seemed to operate really smoothly.
The staff at Gloucester Royal Hospital Birth Unit were fantastic. They were very caring during my time with them and they were willing to go the extra mile to ensure that myself, my husband and newborn baby were all well looked after. I can not thank them enough for how they cared for us all.
I arrived at the hospital as a result of a motocross accident and so came in via A&E. I felt I was dealt with quickly and the people around me seemed confident, competent and open. Of course the situation was very unpleasant, but I felt as calm as could be expected.
After an initial operation that happened within hours of me arriving, I was sent up to this ward, into a sideroom. Again the doctors were attentive and communicated at length with me about a second operation. My injury was very serious, however I felt a suitably experienced surgeon was in charge. His colleagues spoke highly of him and again I felt calm.
On the ward (first time I've been an inpatient), I felt very comfortable. I got lots of sleep and felt well cared for. Since I wasn't prepared for my stay, I particularly appreciated 2 Indian nurses who washed my hair for me.
After my second operation, 4 days later, I was moved out of my sideroom and into a main ward. I immediately noticed a difference in the 'atmosphere' between the two. The nurses now were more competent and efficient, rather than caring an compassionate. The job still got done though.
Things to be improved;
MRSA test - I was swabbed for MRSA when I entered the ward, but I was surprised that I wasn't swabbed again when I left.
Blood Pressure Machines - Do they have to be so loud, especially when they are used so often during the night?
Discharge - On discharge, everything happened so quickly. There was a lot of paperwork & medication I had to take away with me. I did feel a bit rushed in the end and since being home, there might have been other questions I would have asked, had I understood the process better.
They were expecting me.
They were welcoming.
They were prompt with treatment.
They were caring and sympathetic.
*Special thank you to Louise Buckle who was very caring and kind*
The ladies toilet was smelly. Needed a thorough clean to smell fresh
Very supportive through labour and aftercare. Keen to make sure you are managing well before they discharge you.
