The Nurse & trainee Nurse who dealt with me were absolutely brilliant, very efficient & explained everything that would happen. 5* Treatment Where I feel the service let me down, was after i'd been seen, there was a new receptionist as well as the previous one & they failed to get hold of a porter to take me to SDEC, so I was left sat back in reception for a while. It was only when one of the Nurses came thru reception & noticed me sat there still that she went and got a wheelchair herself & took me over to the womens hospital herself. It would appear that communication between depts is very poor. I understand the pressures of the NHS are extremely difficult for everyone at the moment & surely there needs to be more daily staff cover to relieve the pressures & stress for staff. Another observation whilst awaiting my appt, sat in the reception area, alot of patients were coming to the dept wrongly, they had been told to go there by 111 but they were actually in the wrong place, this is frustrating for the already poorly patients & NHS staff alike. There were about half a dozen cases like this in the 2 hrs I was sat there! 1* treatment Smoking is another issue & in my mind if patients are well enough to go outside for a smoke they really can't be that poorly at all & should automatically go back to the bottom of the queue if they cannot stay in the waiting room & wait for their appt like everyone else.
