My partner took me in to a&e following a bleed and pain at 10 weeks pregnant. We were seen very quickly and all the staff we saw were compassionate and supportive at a very difficult time. My partner was able to stay with me which we were very grateful for.

Suggested improvements
My only suggestion would be that I wished the doctor and nurses had prepared us more for what was likely to happen when I miscarried. I think at the first visit they were trying to help us stay positive until further tests showed if a miscarriage had taken place but this left us unprepared for the level of pain and bleeding that I then suffered during the following night. We felt there must be something ( other than the miscarriage) wrong, that this couldn't be normal as it was far worse that the period like cramps they had mentioned, which is why we came back to a&e a second time. I later read accounts on the miscarriage association website of other women's experience that were similar in both the level of pain and feelings of being unprepared. It might be the last thing that a pregnant couple want to think about but knowledge is power and feel it would have helped us understand what was happening. Many thanks.
