I rang out of hours at 9pm Saturday. I was given a 2 hour call back time, 17 hours later the doctor decided to give me a call but only rang for 2 seconds. As I was unable to get my phone out of my pocket and answer within 2 seconds they hung the phone up. I rang back the out of hours and was told because I didn't bother answering that I had been struck off the list. I told them how ridiculous it was that they hadn't rang in the time slot and appreciate they are busy but 17 hours when told 2 hours is appalling. When I rang back I was offered an appointment 30 hours after my initial call. When I arrived at the appointment at the allocated time I was told it was told it was a 5/6 hour wait. At this point my own GP surgery would be open again. Absolutely terrible service and care provided by the staff working that weekend. There is no wonder at all that a&e and 999 are so busy with stupid jobs that out of hours could deal with. This is clearly a contributing factor that emergency services are so stretched. I was clearly called for a very short period of time to be struck off the list and it's not acceptable. This service and GP surgeries in general are all about as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

Suggested improvements
Respect. Honesty. Don't work on an appointment basis is you can't stick to it. Don't make further appointments when already 6 hours behind. Call back for longer than 2 seconds, try calling again if no answer. Don't tell patients they need to be spoke to within 2 hours then call 17 hours later.
