The nurse who attended to me was very empathic due to what my problem was. Very friendly ,approachable .polite. professional nothing was too much trouble and told me what she was going to do with sample and to email Doctors for further help. So quick had prescription sent to chemist all done in less than 1 hour. Never used this practice before highly recommended. From entering the building till leaving my appointment.

I have had lower back, pelvic girdle and hip pain for several years. When one area is less severe the discomfort manifests itself in one of the other areas. Blood clotting (PE)occured a few years ago after a hip replacement, and I take a blood thinner tablet on prescription daily. .

I visited the service with my 73 year old dad, whom was suffering severe abdominal pains. We couldn’t get in at our regular GP and despite the persistently worsening pain over the previous 3/4 days he understandably did not want to go to a+e. I called the same day health centre on his behalf whom booked us an appointment within the hour. When we arrived the receptionist, whom was very helpful, advised that my dad had been moved from the nurses’ list to that of the GP. The GP was still on his lunch break but would be returning soon. The GP did return soon and was thorough with his history taking and physical examination of my dad who was clearly in severe pain. The GP advised that he needed to go to be seen urgently that afternoon and rang and booked him into the emergency surgical assessment centre at DRI. Meaning we could bypass a+e. I am so grateful for the care of this GP and for his prompt referral to emergency services. I can only believe that, and this is also my full time job; if we were seen by someone at our own GP practice this wouldn’t have been the case and he may have been sent home with a scan referral for however many weeks time. The infection which he had could have turned fatal within a matter of hours. Im sorry I didn’t the GP’s name, or the name of the receptionist / nurse who assisted us so that the praise could be relayed directly to them.

On this occasion every aspect of the care received was above standards. The only thing would be the slight delay to the appointment time, however I understand that this is due to the fact my dad was changed from being seen by the nurse to the GP and that this couldn’t have been avoided.

Good response time from phoning to getting appointment. Prescribed right medication to stop condition getting worse. Did the job my gp should have done.

Quite a long wait past appointment time but don't think anything can really be done about that
