I was very happy that I was given a face to face appointment to see a GP so quickly, however as an out of area patient, I got the feeling from the doctor I saw that it would have been preferable to contact my own surgery. I was really suffering with back pain and just needed some strong painkillers. I did follow the GPS advice and got in touch with my own surgery but this meant a delay of 3 days before I got the meds I needed.

On this occasion it would have been useful to have the option of a telephone consultation/ triage rather than a return journey of 16 miles.
