Treated with care and kindness throughout, even though they were very busy Felt safe and knowledgeable about what was happening to me.
Was long wait and was few emergency but needed something to inform people more of wait and stuff and some reception staff were bit abrupt
Very quick service
Overall pleased. Toilet could have been cleaner. Waiting time was excessive.
I was left sitting in a wheelchair unable to move or do anything for three hours and at no time did anyone check on me
I was sent to A&E as an emergency. Couldn’t sit or stand and was told there was at least a 7 hour wait to see a doctor. I left the hospital against medical advice
This relates to my experience with A&E and not the fracture clinic who I subsequently saw. The staff in A&E made me feel like an inconvenience and everything seemed like it was “too much trouble”. I went in with a potential ankle fracture and wasn’t seen for 5 hours - not even offered pain killers - my foot was not elevated the entire time only to then be told (after 5 hours) that I needed to keep my foot elevated and take painkillers. Was sent home on the basis of this being a sprain. Went back 4 days later as the pain had not eased at all - this time saw the fracture clinic who pointed out a small fracture on my inside ankle. This was missed first time.
I came in with a head injury, I had been unconscious at home: the ambulance would be 2 hours so my husband had to take me to a and e. Triage nurse initially took a quick glance whilst waiting in a queue outside. . When called into the triage the nurse never looked at my wound: she checked my eyes and gave paracetamol. They called me in later after my husband complained I was in pain and lost a lot of blood. They gave me a codeine and said my bp was high (I suffer from hypertension) and I heard them say it was only superficial despite not looking at it properly. I was shaking and the nurse got me a warm blanket as I was cold. Despite my feeling sick and dizzy and lost a lot of blood I wasn’t looked at quick enough. I was not once offered a drink of water. I had a ct scan after 6 hours of waiting after my husband complained, then they couldn’t find my file . My husband was extremely worried and made him sit in another part of the hospital when I needed someone with me. After a wait of over 7 hours I finally saw a dr. The dr and nurse looked after me well. After the nurse cleaned the blood from my hair they discovered a wound of 3” long and could see my skull. I passed out while the nurse was tending to me. I was feeling sick and dizzy all the while I sat in the waiting area: they made my husband leave and I had no-one with me. Despite feeling the way I did I had to walk to nurse station twice. I ended up with 3 staples in my head and finally left A and E around 4:50am.
The midwives that supported me through my labour ‘Carla’ and ‘Beth’ were absolutely amazing I couldn’t ask for a better pair of midwives to deliver my beautiful baby. Thank you both so much!
