Share review of Diana Princess of Wales Hospital
I have large cell artiritus and any change in my eyesight has to be reported immediately to A and E as an emergency to avoid blindness. My Dr sent me there for immediate attention. My GP said I must tell A and E about this which did and said there is an on call ophthalmic doctor on call who would see me straight away. Six days before I had had a total hip replacement so my. Husband wheeled me in on an hospital wheelchair. The staff would not let him stay. I sat there for three and a half hours before anyone came any where near me. I could not wheel myself to get help. By then I was in extreme pain with my hip apart from my anxiety about my eye. Eventually the consultant in A and E got me an appointment in the eye clinic. In all I spent 5 hours sitting in a hospital wheelchair. No one seemed to have any knowledge of large cell artiritus or cared in spite of the fact I explained it clearly as my GP had asked me to. I was made to feel guilty for wasting their time. The condition is rare affecting 5 people in one hundred thousand. They neither knew nor cared. Extremely worried about using this service again. Desgraceful
