I would like to give a special mention to Leander Gomersall midwife on the labour ward who gave me super care and support.
On ward 32 I would like to give a special mention to midwives Helen Rouse and Kelly and Vicki (warden manager) whose support during my 7 day stay was invaluable.
I was looked after caringly. I was given a seperate room which helped with my privacy with the kid aswell. Overall had a very pleseant stay.
My journey with the CoCH began with the ivf treatment we received for our unexplained infertility. The team in assisted conception were amazing, giving such a high standard of support and care along with their expertise. Our second cycle of nhs treatment was successful.
Our 20 week scan identified low laying placenta so a further scan at 34 weeks was planned. This scan highlighted concern with the babies growth and Dr Brigham (wonderful Dr) reviewed this and arranged a further scan at 36 weeks, and regular reviews in the assessment unit in the intrim.
The 36 week scan revealed that there had been no progress with growth so a c section was booked. Following the delivery of my baby boy, Albert, we spent 8 days in Transitional Care.
Every single person along the way gave me, my husband and Albert such a high level of care that we feel truly blessed to have such a fantastic local hospital. The four midwives that looked after us on TC (Jenny, Janet, Nicky and Jean) made that difficult period so much better, we feel unable to express how important their support was. Thanks to them Albert is breast feeding successfully and thriving.
Every health care professional we had contact with from Health Care Assistants, Nurses, Midwives, Physiotherapists, Doctors, Consultants were first rate.....how many Foundation Trusts can say that? not many I am sure.
If it was not for the wonderful professionals our precious son would not be here.
Would be nice to know roughly how long you might have to wait, even if only to nearest half an hour.
Waiting room not a pleasant environment.
Don't like having the TV on continuously.
Don't like the advertising.
My mum was an inpatient on Ward 33 in December 2012 and again in January 2013. I felt that nurses were helpful and friendly to a certain degree but did not go out of their way to inform you of any changes or progress that may have happened since previous day or visiting times. My mum needed to go to Walton Hospital for an outpatient appointment on one of the days and transport had been booked to take my mum and dad to Walton for her appointment at 10am. At 9am the transport had not turned up and when i asked a Staff Nurse where the transport was she said that it was nothing to do with her and there was no Ward clerk on that day. A few minutes later I asked again if there was anything that could be done about the transport to which the same Staff Nurse replied "It's not my domain". I was extremely dissatisfied with this response as my family were already very anxious about mum's diagnosis and potential prognosis. We also had problems with equipment being delivered from OT. Half was delivered and then had to be chased up following mum's discharge from Walton Hospital as referrals didn't seem to have been made from COCH.
Excellent care received. The staff were professional, polite and I was cared for at the highest standards.
Good hospital, could do with some updating, but the staff are always kind and considerate.
