I was worried about having a gastroscopy and colonoscopy at Halton Hospital due to previous experiences at different health trusts. I shouldn't have worried, I was treated with absolute respect and warmth from the moment I stepped into the endoscopy suite until the minute I left. From the receptionist to the consultant. I was made to feel completely at ease and didn't feel at all anxious once the treatment started. The constant reassurances and encouragement from all of the staff made it a really easy experience, despite my worries! I would certainty recommend the "endoscopy experience" at Halton to anyone. If I had to find a fault it was that Mr Taylor, the consultant, is a Sale Sharks supporter! But I guess we all have our weaknesses! 😉 Many thanks to all the staff, you made a worrying procedure very relaxing. You are all stars!

The care I received was exceptional. Everything was explained I detail and all questions answered. We had a little confusion finding the unit. (First time at the hospital) External is not as visible as expected especially when anxious

Jonathan Cliffe was a constant support and strength through my pregnancy. He is an asset to the profession and can’t speak highly enough of him as a midwife. I felt heard and understood and 100% supported. I am so grateful to have been lucky enough to have had him through my second pregnancy, thank you Jonathan. The midwives on the ward were absolutely lovely, and I felt like they couldn’t do enough to help me and my baby. Brilliant experience on the wards too. The students were wonderful and I felt like I had a group of highly skilled and knowledgeable friends aiding me in the first few days of my sons life.

Suggested improvements
  • The discharge process again was lengthy as it was for my first baby. It’s just one of those things.

From the moment I met Jonathan I was made to feel welcome, valued and heard. Having the same midwife throughout my pregnancy and postnatally was a great experience and really enhanced the feelings of care and value for me. Jonathan is an excellent midwife - from the start to the end of my care every interaction with Jonathan was professional and friendly and I really appreciated our time together. When Jonathan said he would do something - for example call or text before arriving to home visit he did exactly that - only enhancing feelings of trust and respect between me and him

Suggested improvements
  • There is nothing I would change about the care I received from the community midwife service.

My midwife was johnathan cliffe I've had an extremely stressful outcome with this man I have 2 disabled children with cystic fibrosis so unfortunately I've not been able to make most of my scan appointments because I've nit had a baby sitter for both of my children and I wasn't allowed to bring them to my scan appointments even thought explaining this to.uktrasound department and Johnathan especially with this covid outbreak its made my situation a lot harder to attend appointments . Me and my partner are also in the middle of moving house which is extremely stressful I've explained everything to johnathan Anyways I just found out hes reported me to social which is very upsetting and stressful I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant and because of this I'm finding it hard to sleep at night aswell as look after 2 disabled children ges made my situation a lot worse . I never liked the man as soon as I meet him hes not like your standard bubble midwife but hes more judging and very hard to talk to and very unprofesionable and as far as I'm concerned hes just fobbed me off because he cant be bothered with dealing with my situation the fact that's hes sniderly gone behind my back and reported me has left me with trust issues with any midwife that il have to deal with and I'm going to make sure that this goes further because I feel discrimnated I've had 2 children at warrington hospital over the past 7 years and I've never meet a midwife as bad at their job as Johnathan is

My community midwife was Leanne Lawrenson. I have been discharged today. Leanne has been amazing since my booking in appointment through to post natal care. She is so lovely, caring, and can trust. She has made my journey a really positive experience and can’t thank her enough. I will miss my visits now that I have been discharged. Helen Barratt

The support and experience of the community Midwife care has genuinely been the most positive and reassuring aspect in the birth of our 2 boys over the last 2 years which hasn’t always gone as planned. In a system where we were required to attend numerous medical consultation clinics, checks and reviews we always relied on the experience of our community Midwife to give us an honest and open opinion. That sounds like something so minor but for 2 years I witnessed every hospital and clinic practice defensive medicine and become increasingly scared or reluctant in giving us a professional opinion beyond what the test results in front of them suggested. The support and outright honest opinions of our community Midwife were the most trusted part of our experience and kept us reassured that things were on track and following their right course. Truly priceless for us. One frustrating experience for us was having to attend daily appointments at the NHS Bath Street clinic in Warrington for Billirubin level checks. I completely understand the medical need for monitoring this but the logistics of having to travel daily to Warrington with a newborn baby, a one year old baby and a wife who 3 days earlier had just undergone major abdominal surgery weren’t the easiest to manage. In my opinion the community Midwife’s should be provided with Jaundice meters for their clinics or home visits. This would have saved us a considerable amount of travel hassle and I can’t believe we are the only people who would be effected by this given the rise in physiological infant Jaundice. In our 2 year experience we must have seen 30 different doctors, anaesthetists, specialists, surgeons, nurses and midwifes. All bar of few of these deeply frustrated me by their ‘worst case scenario’ language and lack of willingness to actually provide us with a professional opinion. Our community Midwife was the only person we could both constantly rely on to genuinely tell it how it was......at the end of the day that’s wanted to feel like we were prepared for what happened next and not like a number at the end of the next test result.

An outstanding service provided throughout the pregnancy by Bernie. Bernie has gone above and beyond all expectations of a health care professional providing us with complete reassurance from beginning to end. Any query or advise we saught, Bernie was contactable, always responding the same day or next. Following birth, we were visited by different midwife to Bernie. During her visit we became extremely anxious as from her observations, our son was jaundice and needed to attend bath street for bilirubin tests. As of the struggles of getting back into a routine and establishing breastfeeding, this was completely disrupted and as a result, formula was introduced unnecessarily on the advise we should be topping our baby up due to inadequate production of breastmilk

I was made to feel relaxed and comfortable in my home environment. The midwives reassured me at every minute and ensured me everything was ok.
